There aren't really any definite treatments. Some people find that medications like Accutane help, while others get no benefit. Some people do homeopathic remedies. I've tried a lot of different things and nothing really takes care of it. I just learn to live with the nastiness and be thankful for the times it isn't so bad. I have no health insurance, so for me to see a dermatologist and use prescription medications would be really expensive.

I hope that you don't get the tunneling and scaring that I read about.

I looked up HS on the Mayo Clinic website, and it is a nasty form of acne.  I sure plays havoc with your skin and underlying tissues.

HS tends to affect mainly the apocrine glands (sweat glands found in the armpits and groin). It is quite painful, especially when a large abcess develops. They always seem to pop up in the worst places too, lol.

Ouch!  Is there any treatment?

Welcome aboard. Cool avatar! How often do you get the abcesses. I know they can be real painful!

I like your avatar.  That was a great abcess story!  I don't know too much about your disease.  What part of your skin is affected?  Is it very painful?  I'm sorry for your troubles.
