Can someone please explain the fascination with this sort of thing I myself really enjoy watching videos like this. I find it amazing that the human body is capable of such gross things.Does anyone out there have any answers as to why we enjoy this so much?

Don't really have a good answer for you, I just know that I've loved this stuff since I was little.  I just love picking at stuff, especially if pus is involved, or better yet, a big fat juicy blackhead.

Desmatic,

My husband asks me the same thing. I do not have a real answer for you. It just is. I love picking at bumps, pimples, boils, blackheads- basically anytype of acne or something that I can get pus out of. It makes me happy. I feel like I am doing to service to whomever I am removing the pus from. I feel like I am making myself feel better by removing them from my skin.

Watching it on the internet is fascinating. I like seeing the huge ones that no one I know can grow. Its like playing baseball for your local team and then watching the big leagues on tv.

Why are you here?

I'm pretty sure my utter fascination with this site is related to my having Picker's Syndrome. Which is a fancy way of saying, I have an unholy love of picking at things. 'Things', in this case, meaning zits, blackheads, scabs, and anything that's peeling or looks like it might be peeling (skin, paint, bark, nail polish, you name it).

There are a few people who actually get off on it.  I don't find anything remotely erotic about it.  But I am no less fascinated.

Much of it is envy.  I can't get a good cyst, boil or pimple going to save my life.  Even blackheads are very rare.  And when I did have them, as a teenager, I didn't appreciate them.

Now, it's like -- WOW!  I MADE THAT!

Be honest.  When you blow your nose, you look. Maybe it's a subconscious desire to make sure you didn't blow your brains out -- and you're checking.  But more likely, you're looking at that glob of snot and saying, "Cool!  I made that!"

Same with zits.  Only much, much better!

It's partly "what the heck made THIS?" and partly grooming and partly OCD.

It's OCD.  If you got it, you got it and if you don't, you don't get it.  You just don't understand.

I'm obsessive about peeling, poping, and picking.  When I was a little kid, I'd get impetigo because I couldn't leave a scab unpicked.  My mom and the doctor didn't know what to do.  They'd plead and threaten and cut my fingernails all the way back, but I was undaunted.  I never had a really bad case and I guess that's a testiment to my mother for keeping me very clean.

I was shocked a few years ago when I asked my doctor why I couldn't stop myself from pulling my hangnails even though I was embarrassed by the way my hands looked.  He replied, very casually, "Yeah, that's obsessive/compulsive disorder."  Then I was embarrassed because he didn't even look at my hands which told me he had probably noticed it years ago.  Anyway, I replied, "Get out.  I'm neurotic?", to which he replied, again, very casually, "A little."

I wish I could read my whole medical file.  I wonder what else I'd find out about myself.
