I never had acne as a teen. It wasn't until I had my daughter at age 26, and then my skin decided it hated me. Now I get such bad zits on my back that I can't sit back on a hard chair at times because they hurt!

The only plus was a bumper crop of popping today. My kid things its fascinating.

So how old were you when it hit?

My acne was not that bad in highschool.  I hit 19 or so and it got really bad.  It took a break...looked really good for a while...even through pregnancy (yes, I really did "glow").  Then afterwards it got worse.

I've thought it was my diet, then maybe hormones, then maybe the wrong skin products...all I know is I'm 36 and I think my face should be healthier looking than it is.

I think it wasn't until my early 20's that my acne started to become a problem.  I had a job working on beaches and I was out in the sun a lot.  That made it reall bad and I think the sunblock I used didn't help it one bit.

I'm 19 now and up until a couple of months ago I had HORRIBLE acne. I was really self-concious about it. Then I joined the army and since then i've had very little, the odd spots on my forehead now and again but it's nothing like what it was. This leads me to believe that diet has a huge part to do with it in an adult. It certainly can't be caused by stress.

No acne as a teenager, but a couple of years ago, my face decided that we needed to visit that rite of passage.  Around age 34, I guess.  I tried all kinds of OTC stuff -- and have the bleached out towels and pillowcases to prove it. No luck.

One dermatologist didn't want to listen to me when I said that the Retin-A was tearing up my skin and making it bleed. He said I wasn't using it right.

Then I went to another dermatologist and explained that Retin-A makes me bleed.  She looked at my history and said that it could be that because I get dermatitis, my skin is too sensitive for Retin-A.

So she has me taking minocycline, which cleared up my skin within ten days of starting it. It even took care of the keratosis piliaris that I'd had on my arms & back for years.

All hail the minocycline!!!!

LOL about the bleached towels and pillowcases.  Sounds like my daughter.  she's ruined more towels then I care to count.

I used to wash my hands twice after putting the stuff on, and still would bleach towels where I dried my hands. I finally bought a couple of white towels to use. Ditto pillowcases.
