Okay so here is my gross zit story.  I felt some itching and mild pain on my groin just above my bits(if you know what I mean).  But there was no bump no redness no anything.  I have had MRSA for a while and knew what was coming though, unfortunately at that point all I could do was wait.  I didn't have to wait long.

Over the next two days the thing swelled to an enourmous size and became so painful that even pajamas hurt to wear.  I tried for days to pop it myself.  I poked, I stabbed it, I cut it, I soaked in the tub for hours to soften it, did hot compresses.  The thing just refused to pop.

At this point it had been about 5 days and I was getting feverish from squeezing it.  The pain and the infection were having a terrible effect on my body, and I knew I needed antibiotics.  So I went to the hospital walk-in clinic.  After waiting for 4 miserable hours to be seen I finally saw a doctor.  She came in took a look at it and of course told me I should have come in sooner.  She left to get some supplies and came back with a kit to take a sample to send to the lab, a scaple, and a ruler.  At this point the size of the bump was 6 inches across 4 inches tall and about 2 inches deep!  She numbed the area, thank you ma'am!  And proceeded to cut.  She had the same results I had and didn't get anything out of it at all.  She gave me an antibiotic, some vicodin and told me to keep doing what I was doing and sent me on my way.

The next day while taking a shower I decided to give it a squeeze and OMG!  It just opened up gobs and gobs of yellowish white puss mixed with blood.  I squeezed it for about 15 minutes and got pus out the entire time.  The pain was unbearable at times but I knew I had to keep going.  Eventually I couldn't do anymore.  I continued to soak and do constant hot compresses and squeezed and got as much pus out each time.  Each time my fever would recur for a few hours after.  I did this twice a day for 4 days before there was finally nothing left, the hole was starting to heal and the antibiotics were starting to help.

It was painful but each time I squeezed it it was so staisfying to see all that pus.  I do wish I had had a camera to record it.  I've had similar infections before in other areas and have had to treat them the same way but this one was the worst.

Great story!  I'm sorry for all your pain, but it had to be so satisfying to finally see all that pus come out.  I wish you'd have been able to film, too.

Oh dear, that does sound very painful. I hope it heals up well, and you don't get any other nasty infections.

That said, if you discover anything similar in a not-so-personal place... Get a camera.

Just sayin'...

Unfortunately for him, once you have it you always have it.  And anytime you get a cut or puncture in your skin you are at risk for an outbreak.  Antibiotics help but the infection never disapears completely.  The last doctor I saw told me that about 85% of all Abscesses  she sees are MRSA.

Really? I had been under the impression that it could be cured either by non-methacylin antibiotics, or your body would just fight it off eventually. Not that I'm any kind of expert or anything. That was just the vague idea I had always gotten.

Owie ow!  It must have been a nightmare trying to walk--even sitting on a hard clinic chair (maybe they had a cushy one? Hope so) for 4 HOURS!!  Man, that's a looooong wait!  I'm happy for you that it's gone.  I always try to see myself all better after surgery, or a bad injury, because it reminds me that all things pass.

You'll be sooo sorry you asked...
