**Soap Box Warning**
This week I have had to shave down one poor little poodle, two labradoodles and one schnoodle. These dogs were so horribly matted they could barely move. One was so relived when I shaved its hind end it decided to poo on my table- it had mats covering its anus and I doubt it was doing much pooing with it blocked in that way. Both of the labradoodles were so bad that their poor little ears were matted to their heads and they couldnt turn their heads. Since they grow hair inside of their ears also, they also had mats in their ears which I had to pull out. Three out of the four had what looked like horrible yeast infections inside of the ear.
Why do you people spend upwards of five hundred dollars for those dogs and let them mat up so horribly? IF you cannott see the skin on your doodle through the fur then its matted. Its not fair to your dog to keep it this way. Buy a comb, pin brush, a mat breaker and a slicker. If your dog has poodle in it in needs to be brushed daily. Its entire body. Not just its back. Get the trouble spots, behind the ears, the arm pits, the knees and the belly. If you cannot spend that type of time with your dog get something else. Seriously every area in every state has poodle rescue groups they would be happy to find your poodle a responsible home. Go buy yourself a nice lab, boston terrier or a cat. Although truly, based upon what i have seen I wouldn't trust you with a potted plant. Its not fair to your animal. I'm sick of seeing these poor animals. Its not fair to them to have to live in misery because you didnt research the breed or because you think its okay to just have them shaved down. If I could I'd call the humane society on every single on of you.
Further more. If a groomer shaves down your dog. Do not complain at us about the length of fur left on the dog. That bright red skin you see shinning through the white fur is irrated due to lack of air flow. Water gets in and it cannot evaporate. Its your fault that your dog looks like a freak. Not ours. We brush our dogs. Do you? Its not going to look like a poodle if you ignore it in your back yard for six months and then drag it to the groomer. How about you take it in every four to six weeks like the schnauzer and cocker owners?
Love your dog and it will love you!

PS. Do not leave dog clothes on your dog for long periods of time if their hair is longer then an inch. This also causes mats.
PPS. NEVER NEVER wash a matted dog. It will make the mats tighter.
PPSS. **Sigh** I feel better now that i got that off my chest.
