No acne as a teenager, but a couple of years ago, my face decided that we needed to visit that rite of passage. Around age 34, I guess. I tried all kinds of OTC stuff -- and have the bleached out towels and pillowcases to prove it. No luck.
One dermatologist didn't want to listen to me when I said that the Retin-A was tearing up my skin and making it bleed. He said I wasn't using it right.
Then I went to another dermatologist and explained that Retin-A makes me bleed. She looked at my history and said that it could be that because I get dermatitis, my skin is too sensitive for Retin-A.
So she has me taking minocycline, which cleared up my skin within ten days of starting it. It even took care of the keratosis piliaris that I'd had on my arms & back for years.
All hail the minocycline!!!!
