Getafreakinlife, in response to your comment, I must say that you are definitely not the first person to cast judgement, and I am certain you will not be the last. However you are also not the first person to make a clouded judgement as to what PTZ is about.
Perhaps you perceive us as something comparable to circus freaks and the like. Guess what? You are right. But only to a certain degree. Freaks are everywhere. Even here. But just because that is true, it does not however, give you license to place all members of this site into one category based upon a few random comments that you may have read from certain viewers.
I would be willing to bet that you have not even bothered to read some of the member's profiles. If you had, then you would have discovered that many of us happen to be concerned medical professionals who have the best interest in promoting things such as hygiene, proper skin care, and awareness of certain dermatological issues like skin cancer, acne, psoriasis, and so on. When we see things being done a certain way in these videos, we are the first to speak up and get the word out to people as to what they may be doing wrong. The idea is to spread the word, not staph infection. Get it?
Now, I don't know what you may have pictured, but I can assure you that the members here, excluding the weirdos, are not having pus parties and rolling around in it while wearing a bunny suit. And with that, I sincerely hope I have given you a better understanding of as to why we are here. I would encourage you to feel free to stick around. You just might learn a thing or two.

We should all give "getafreakinlife" a round of applause or providing us here at PopThatZit with such a glorious illustration of what a troll is, how they function (poorly), what they say (inane, hateful, uneducated babble); the best way to deal with said troll? Pretend they don't exist, or just talk over their heads - which is usually not a difficult task. We aren't talking stellar IQ's here, folks.Remember, trolls live in dark, dirty places, are usually loners who hide from the rest of society, and under the anonymity of the web spend their days spreading nastiness across the internet, which to say the least, I guess, is a step up from hiding under bridges and eating small children.

Oh well, live and let live, but I would skip the bunny suit. I'm more of a Sea Otter, if I ever had brain trauma and started to think in that direction (someone pull the plug on me first, please!) ~ H.S. (just lighthearted fun folks, really. First off, well stated zitzur, emil, momE, and hs.
Which is worse?.......having a good time, conversing with others of similar interest on a subject that is very interesting and underwhelming reported on the rest of the web in an organized manner......
or, say taking your personal time to sign up to a site you don't have personal interest in just so that you can make an attempt to rile up folks that could give a flying rats ass what you think about them....?
It may just be my humble opinion, but I think that getafreakinlife is the one on this site not being productive and wasting their time. Maybe the screen name was meant to be self referential, who knows? ;-)
I'm not trying to be rude and hypocritical here, I just agree with HS on the troll matter.

It's a fair question,why we're interested in seeing zits popped. It's funny, but I think there may be something that is so instinctive to us that it is beyond understanding. Who knows? It could be go waaaaay back to proto-humans, even pre-humans, who sat grunting in a group, paired off in tending to fur and skin hygiene. Removing dirt, debris, insects....and squeezing painful bug bites, skin eruptions and cysts!
For me, first it's about getting rid of the pain. An inflamed and/or infected zit or pore can sit on or near a nerve and be terribly painful. But it's easily remedied by pushing out the offending substance.
Then there's the feeling of relief and well-being when noxious eruptions and infected zits are removed. As if something harmful or poisonous has been expelled from our body and can no longer threaten us. I think there's a human healing instinct which moves us to expel zits and boils and such. Without knowing exactly why, almost all of us (who admit it) feel a wonderful sense of relief and release when we pop our zits instinctively and remove the nastiness from our body. It's an instinct nature gave us so we don't let minor skin eruptions and infections grow into life-threatening lesions.

i hate to say it, having never criticized a troll for content before, but this is lame as far as trolling goes. ineffective, not very insulting, causing absolutely no infighting whatsoever, bereft of follow-up. as a prof, i am gonna have to give it an F in Troll 101.

You know, at first I guilt-tripped myself over the strange sensation of relief I experienced when watching the vids on this site. I wondered if maybe there was something wrong with me, or if I was uncovering some extremely bizarre fetish.
Then, I talked to other people about it, in person. Usually the topic comes up in idle conversation with close friends. I realized pretty soon that most everyone gets a feeling of satisfaction from the pop, although I know some people would prefer not to watch others do it.
(Edit): Slightly related, I remember a couple of weeks ago during class I was asked to log onto my email on the main computer in the class, which is hooked up to a projector (we were going through the process of applying for our Visas to Study Abroad next semester). I opened up my email and lo and behold, the first new email I had on the screen was "Popthatzit: GIANT GRANDMA ZIT! WOW!!" or something along those lines. Murphy's Law. I don't think anyone saw it though, because I quickly deleted it while most people were logging in to their own emails. Needless to say, I was extremely embarrassed.
But it's there, in all of us, I assure you. As jumbob said, it's instinctual. But I can tell you right now, it's NOT sexual to me, (might be to some I guess; to each his own) if that happens to be what you're thinking.
It can only be described as an intense feeling of relief after watching a good video. Not stimulating relief or pleasure, just relief, as if a weight or pressure was released from your body. I actually catch myself tensing up while I'm watching a really good video, and then when the big pop comes and it's like I just beat a really difficult level in a video-game, or watched a home-run. There's an adrenaline rush of sorts. That's the best way I can describe it, in my tired state right now.
Anyways, I've given far too long of a response to someone who's obviously just looking for reactions. And is probably 12. Honestly, I just think you're in denial, getafreakin.
But you'll embrace the popping one day. Mark my words, you will.
