MotherE, if you expect me to tell you what a 'case' you are, as you put it, then I'm sorry but I've got to let you down in that regard. Music is one of the love's of my life. Who needs a therapist when all we need to do is push play. I can't even begin to tell you how extensive my music collection is, or how much gas I've wasted just riding around solo while listening to it. NEVER apologize for your love of music. I know it's saved me during many tough times for sure.
The people who DON'T dig some good music are the real 'cases', and frankly they kind of scare me, because how can one NOT like music. These folks don't know what they are missing. Some of the best damn times I've ever had all involve music. My dog and my music have always been there for me when there was not another sole in sight.
I was born in 1969, and that's something I'm proud of because it means that I was right there growing up in the midst of that wonderful time when some of the best music in the world was being written and played. For as long as I can remember, in my household there was always music being played and you could hear it seeping through in the background no matter what room you were in. Thank God for that.
I listen to anything from Tool to the Dave Matthews Band. And when Dave and the guys lost one of the best damn sax players in the world, Leroi Moore, it hit me like a punch in the gut. It still does. He died from injuries received while riding an ATV, and it was a blood clot that claimed him months after the accident. They have continued to tour as always, but you can still feel Leroi's presence. Thank God I was off work on the weekend he passed because it would have been a distraction that this nurse didn't need.
I also like Classic Rock, and I think that the seventies and the eighties are when some of the best music was ever made. I love some of the more contempory stuff too, like the former Audioslave, and so on.
I blieve there is a song for everyone. Just listen to the first few lines of Stevie Wonder's 'Sir Duke' and that says it all.
So, no more apologies MotherE. Keep rockin'!
