that was interesting-- the doctor used a lancet (what diabetics use to prick fingertips to check bloodsugar). I didn't realize those cysts were fully of gelatin, I thought it would be more liquid

The clear gel is synovial fluid, which lubricates your joints. The synovium tissue makes the stuff, so letting some out when a cyst develops isn't harmful.
