| Posted By pimplepoppinmama on May 03, 2008I think this farmer is cruel to his animals. To let an abscess get that big on a milk cow (look at the full udder) is inexcusable! They see their dairy cows every day. The cow is down... and acts as if it can't GET up. That means a cow is in bad shape. (My husband grew up on a farm.) Look at how bony thin it is. GRRrrrrrr I hate things like this... animal abuse clearly. |

WE WOULD GET ABCESSES BUT THAT IS ALITTLE OVERBOARD. THOSE COWS ARE TREATED SO BADLY ANYWAY. NO IM NOT A MEMBER OF P E T A BUT MAYBE I SHOULD BE. ANYWAY, THIS IS ONE I WONT WATCH AGAIN. | Posted By meteoreyes on May 13, 2008Animals and abcesses Anybody seen a cat or dog with an abcess? They can come up FAST, and we know cowhide is tough! This man is not mistreating the cow, he's draining the abcess with the least amount of pain to the cow--and the least traumatic involvement. NOBODY loves and cares about animals more than I do, but unless you have been around dairy (or other non-pet) cows, then you can't make zitumptions. ALL cows have "bony" hips. I've wondered why we say "fat cow," when cows are thin except for their lower bellies! The farmer may not have been able to tell there WAS an infection until the cow got a bit weak. I really wish we could respond properly to animal abuse and neglect, by making laws against animal cruelty that mean business! Some laws with sharp teeth could help (punny haha). Send people to prison--seriously. Don't simply cry out in shock and anger, but DO SOMETHING when you KNOW an animal is being mistreated. How about it??? Let's get the human worms who think they'll always get away with hurting animals, since animals can't tell or ask for help. We are the shepherds of our earth and everything that's on it. Not the exploiters, not the kings, not superior. Supposedly higher-thinking, which is why it is our responsibility to reign in population, clean up pollution, make it so all animals can have some sort of life outdoors. Even if it means we sacrifice. I won't hold my breath--but if you think abuse is occurring, then ACT!! Don't simply decry the awfulness of it in a forum and then forget it. |

| Posted By stormy48 on May 13, 2008hmmm i think if we allow pics like this than it encourages people to treat animals on their own thing like this and put it on here. no preaching just in my opinion it looks cruel and thats what large animal doctors are for. they specialize in LARGE ANIMALS. i didnt see any sterile conditions or shot or even anything but a show. |
