This makes me sad. This poor girl has this terrible infectio nin her leg. Probably something simple out bodies could fight off. Her poor little immune system probably cant hand even the slightest infections due to malnutrition and poor sewage. Im not sure, but it seems like Africa. Man im glad i live in America. I hope she's alright. Hard to enjoy that one knowing someone is suffering. She was so sweet too, did you see her holding the doctors arm? Awwww

I know we all like a good amount of pus, but I can't enjoy these ones knowing that the people are suffering and possibly dying.

It isn't a kid--but it's still sad. And I agree with the title "I can't enjoy these." You have to realize... This isn't just a zit... This isn't something that happens when you mature... People are dying because of infections! This is an infection. P.S.... The reason you think it's a kid is because she's so small. Malnutrition and disease is a sad thing. People need to start caring about this. And not just post things like this on youtube. I feel like we've degraded her.

I SAW THIS ON YOU TUBE BEFORE THEY CUT THE SOUND. THIS IS A VERY SAD VIDEO. THEY SAID THEY GAVE THE CHILD A MEDICINE BUT FROM WHAT I HEARD AND IT MADE ME CRY, THAT CHILD WAS SUFFERING. I KNOW IT HAD TO BE DONE BUT THERE JUST HAS TO BE A MORE HUMANE WAY OF DOING IT. DOES POOR MEAN LAY THERE AND SUCK IT UP? IF THESE DOCTORS, AND THEY GUY WHO POSTED IT SAID THEY WERE, HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO DO THIS IN THESE CONDITIONS THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO STOP THE PAIN. I DONT EVEN COME CLOSE TO THE WORK THEY DO AND KNOW THEY GIVE TO DO IT BUT I WILL NEVER GET OVER THE CRIES OF THAT CHILD AND THE WAY HE/SHE IS TRYING TO MAKE IT STOP WITH THEIR HANDS. CREDIT TO THOSE WHO GIVE OF THEIR TIME BUT THIS IS REALLY A HORROR.

Where did you get the info that it wasn't a kid? I know where this video was originally posted, and the description said the patient was a young girl. The video originally came from jpilonmd on YouTube, and the video was called Pus II (among other very similar videos). YouTube deleted the Pus II video, so he reposted it minus the audio, but they deleted it again, so it is no longer there. I got the same clip (which had been reposted to another site), and the audio is intact, and it is VERY clear that it is the voice of a young girl screaming.

This condition, in which muscle tissue is attacked by bacteria, is not terribly uncommon in the third world. Here's a dose of reality: in most of the world, anesthesia is scarce and expensive, and used only when necessary for the procedure to succeed, such as if you're going to do something intra-abdominal or enter a major joint. For incision and drainage of an infection like this, it's not that unusual for there to be no anesthesia at all, or for anesthesia to be limited to an ice pack compress X 10 minutes before opening the lesion. And it's highly unlikely that this patient will die from this infection.

The doctor that posted these operations on YouTube said that his patient that got the huge abcess drained from his back (video Pus IVa, not Pus), although screaming his head off, did not even remember going through his operation afterwards. Maybe they had them on drugs that would knock out your conscious, but not your subconscious.

The doctor said he had the guy (who had the back abscess) sedated with valium by IV. The guy was screaming while they were draining his back, but one hour later didn't recall having the procedure.

Not a girl. Look at her height/ the size of her body parts. Yes, when in extreme pain-- your voice tends to become strained-- becoming higher. Look at the WOMAN. It's not a girl. She's a small woman. And yes, I saw the original video. Thanks. EITHER WAY, however. The point is... I feel like we are degrading this FEMALE.

Local anesthesia will not work on badly infected tissue. Basically the local anesthesia is a certain shape and it will only bind to the nerves when they are a certain shape. Unfortunately infected tissue has a different pH than non infected tissue. This different pH changes the shape of the nerve cells just enough that the local anesthesia will not work. Many folks who had a root canal can attest to this. They give you a local and you are still in pain.
