    • Description:
Hey, so the simplified story goes: We were white water rafting in Northern Thailand and I banged my knee on a rock (through the boat) and then continued the day because I had no pain; but 4 days later I started to have alot of pain and inflammation. I went to the hospital and was mis-diagnosed (Bursitis) and the condition worsened, so I went to another hospital and was told about the bad infection....they started surgery (hence the gauge out of my knee). Before this surgery there was no mark on my knee...just swelling and redness. After that, we continued travels but the beast was still infected and sore. When we got to Bangkok, I went to yet another hospital where they began a more extensive surgery (hence the crater on my knee) to remove the puss and bad tissue; and finally a few weeks later I am almost good to go! I will continue travels in Laos on Saturday Dec 1st.

would I be staying. The tissue has black spots. That can be an indicator that it is necrotic, and that's bad news. You can lose your leg or worse. Infections can become systemic. I would be heading back to the USA!

I am usually not very sensitive, and not very easy to gross out, but boy this one had me flinch when they pulled the flesh and what not up... gross crap.

I had a staph abscess on my left knee when I was 13, and had something that was almost this much fun done to it. (Excision, drainage, packing) This made me cringe and cringe and cringe! GREAT JOB! Plus, kudos to the cameraman!

More of a gore video. As far as gore videos go, it's a little on the weak side. Seen far more intense gore videos at goregasm, back when I used hang out there a couple years ago. (coincidentally, someone over there just linked to this video today)

MAGGOT THERAPY. these maggots ONLY eat dead tissue. the maggots would've had a nice feast inside that putrid hole in his knee.

I'd be on a plane back to North AMerica so fast if I had this thing on my leg! The hospital staff doesn't look like they know what they are doing. It seems they are just making it up as they go along. Cotton in a wound like that can leave residue that will only make the infection worse. I agree with the post above that maggot therapy would be the best idea. This thing just looks like it was incredibly painful. It obvioulst can't be closed like this and if he is continuing to travel in 3rd world countries he's just looking for an amputation down the line. I hope he is okay though. Post with an update dude!

this guy must be rich and retarded. after round 1 and 2 you can still see yellow tissue in the wound, pretty obvious that is wouldn't heal right.
