Having been a kid myself, I often wonder how many children know about the nice and nasty things that can happen inside your nose. When we were young, boogers were pretty high on the “Disgusting Things” list that all kids knew instinctively – almost like that genetic memory thing…

Anyways, after having been on this site for so long, and seeing all that we have seen (yes, bleaching your eyes is sometimes radical but a necessity) – its almost like we have a big secret unknown to those under 15. Polyps, fungus, concha bullosa, mucopus, and more. Almost puts ordinary boogers to shame.

Although, perhaps if kids knew, they would either spend all day with their fingers up in there, or they’d be so scared that certain psychiatric treatments would then be required.

I guess its a mixed bag, right? Lol. Have fun with this one – it is particularly muco-polypy fun! Plus some new technology! ENJOY!!

I like fungus. But not to eat. Wait, scratch that. I like bleu cheese in all its wonderful stinky varieties! It was an acquired taste, for sure – there was no way in heck I was going to eat *mold* when I was young. But now? As long as it is cheesey. Oh man, what does that say about me? LOL! I guess being a Popologist is no surprise!!

I am sure there are hours of psychological B.S. that could continue from here, but let’s watch a video instead, OK? OK!

With pus… that sounds like ordering a fast food burger and asking for it “with cheese.” Hey, since cheese is often used to describe pus, then you are ordering your burger with pus. Mmm, how hungry are you now?

Since we have had such a run on sinus videos dealing with CSF leaks, here is the information we found on that now invaluable resource, Wikipedia:
“Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), Liquor cerebrospinalis, is a clear, colorless, salty bodily fluid, that occupies the subarachnoid space and the ventricular system around and inside the brain and spinal cord. In essence, the brain “floats” in it.

The CSF occupies the space between the arachnoid mater (the middle layer of the brain cover, meninges), and the pia mater (the layer of the meninges closest to the brain). It constitutes the content of all intra-cerebral (inside the brain, cerebrum) ventricles, cisterns, and sulci (singular sulcus), as well as the central canal of the spinal cord.

It acts as a “cushion” or buffer for the cortex, providing a basic mechanical and immunological protection to the brain inside the skull.

It is produced in the choroid plexus.”

Additionally, the leakage of CSF into the nose is actually called “CSF rhinorrhoea” and can actually be indicative of a pituitary adenoma.

This video reminds me of trying to plug the leak in the water hose. Video shows repair of a cerebrospinal fluid leak originating in the sphenoid sinus. Patient had previously undergone removal of a pituitary tumor 20 yrs. earlier.
