I had never seen how this was done before. Yet when you hear how many children have had tubes placed in their ears due to chronic infections of the middle ear (Serous Otitis Media) – and you have wondered exactly what does that mean, then this is the video for you, too! This is what I have learned as well – Although Pediatric ENT’s are trying to move away from hastily looking to grommets/tubes as the answer to a child’s problem, since the grommets themselves can become an issue. As seen here, it is also not a problem limited just to the young. I do hope this will be a good educational video for the many who have never seen the procedure accomplished, like myself!

Performed at the Miami Center for Dermatology, by Dr. Deborah Longwill. Nice lipoma removal, one of the more icky looking blobs of fatty tissue I’ve seen, but also one of the most efficient outpatient procedures as well!

You’d be amazed at what you can find when you plug “brain tumor extraction video” into google.  I’m still looking for that one video that succeeds in making me ill.  I know one that would, but there is no way I’d be posting that here.  In fact, when one of the guys I worked with explained to me the ins and outs of it, I thought “my cup runneth over” but then I realized that if it’s banned from YouTube, I probably won’t be able to find it anywhere.  You all know what I’m talking about.  BTW – the cysterhood and blooderhood rocks.

This made me a little queasy.
It’s just a little eye lid cyst, but the way they remove it got to me for some reason.

Ahem, and now… “What da heck *is* a Dirofilaria cyst?!?”
Well, to keep it brief and uncomplicated – it is a parasitic cyst, with the mosquito as the transfer host. Humans are not ideal hosts, as the dirofilaria pasasite causes an inflammatory reaction, here subcutaneously, and parasite development is impaired and no microfilariae are not produced. You are instead left with a painful mass lesion – thus mistaken as a sub-Q sebaceous or related cyst.

This surgery requires the surgeons to come at the large mass from a couple of directions in order to fully remove it. The patient had been in quite a bit of pain. Easy to understand when you see how much guck that amazing micro-debriding tool chews up inside the nose. Not to mention the size of the lumpy hunk of tumor pulled from the hole they created under the upper lip and through the gums and jawbone – well, lets leave it at I am pretty close to sure that the long term pain was alleviated.

But the pain during recovery, considering how much stuff they had to prod, poke, pull, and pound into pulp – probably wasn’t fun. Sometimes, you just have to endure – eventually it will get better. Even the second hole in this guy’s mouth. ENJOY

Photographic catalog showing the progression of a woman’s MRSA infection from December 5, 2011 thru January 9, 2012. Despite being admitted to the hospital fairly quickly, the aggressive antibiotic IV treatments were not working, and she underwent surgery on December 7th.
