Thanks for your kind words. However, for years I was treated with antibiotics for sinus pain, pressure, stuffy nose….all the hallmarks of an infection except no true infection was present. My “sinus” headaches were really migraine headaches, which can have the exact symptoms of sinusitis. Many people don’t know this!

Not only is it terribly dangerous to take antibiotics when infection is present, they don’t help migraine pain!

I switched doctors and got medication (Maxalt Melts) for migraines. Now when I feel my symptoms coming on I take a pill and usually the pain is gone in 15-30 min.

I urge everyone who is told they have chronic sinus infection to insist on a scan or sinus xrays to determine if infection is really present before using antibiotics. If not they will be useless when really needed.

Oh, I finally insisted the doctor treating me for those “sinus” headaches do some xrays. The result? Perfect sinuses with no infection! After 10 years of antibiotic treatment with NO improvement she finally listened to me. Needless to say, these days I am a very “involved” patient in my healthcare.
