Dr. Janakiram’s “Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma – Endoscopic Removal “

A very excellent procedure by our very excellent and probably the longest running medical professional contributor on PTZ – Dr. Janakiram! This time Dr. J. turns his skills on an extremely large angiofibroma. One the nasal obstructive growth detached and “trimmed” enough to be removed… it seems the nasal passage is just too small for it to be pulled through.

Thank you Dr. J. It is so wonderful that you take you time to teach us. This was incredibly interesting and instructive. I have a couple of questions: what is the prognosis for this patient? Will he require any reconstructive surgery at a later date? Was this tumour malignant and will he require any type of treatment? I wish him well and hope that he is well along in his recovery from what looks like major surgery. It is wonderful that a procedure like this is even possible – today’s medicine allows all of this to happen. Without CT scans or endoscopes, this young man would have had a far different course.

I love Dr J videos so much. His navigation skills are amazing. He’s working in an area the size of a couple of marshmallows dissected with a bunch of bone. It’s crazy.
My favorite mass removal surgeries have really clear planes between it and the bits that are supposed to be there. I love it when they can be peeled away like in this one. I love it!
When he said he was going to deliver it through the mouth, all I could think about was all of the destruction he’d done with the sinuses, and now he’s going to go into the throat/mouth!? Sheesh, I’m glad he did. Since it’s a fibroma, I bet it was too solid/stiff to flex much. Sheesh.
This patient must have had this obstruction for a really long time. Now that the mass is gone and the sinus has been opened up so much, it must feel like he’s got a wind tunnel in there. Thanks Dr. J! Thanks Big Tull!

Whenever I view Dr J’s more complicated procedures, I feel like I’ve just seen something quite profound. I’m sure his patients feel quite the same, even not having seen it. I certainly appreciate his willingness to share his gift with the rest of the world and thank him for it.

Well, BigTull, you’ve done it again! It’s way over my head, but I don’t care…his videos make a lot more sense than the ones where the poppee plays with the goop but never actually removes any of it.

My other half just walked past and said you’ve just had your tea (so had she)
She then sat down and watched it with me and asked to watch it again.

I can understand why people get a bit sicky watching but with Dr J’s exceptional skills at surgery and narration you really don’t have time to feel sick

I love Dr. J! Always 5 Stars. I find his videos even more interesting because I recently took Anatomy & Physiology. When he speaks in “Medical”, I now understand the terminology (most of the time) and see the processes come together.
