Poor Putty Tat, Got a Cyst in its Ear!!

**WARNING: Animal pus, at home cyst pop. Please, be aware and watch by choice, comment with respect. Thank you!! END WARNING**

Cat with large but simple sebaceous cyst on the inside pinnae of the ear. Not a complete draining, but still enough to see some gentle pus extraction.

YT Original Poster Comments:
We did take him to the vet prior to me popping his ear. He is just fine now.” Yay kitty!

Audrey, I love your avatar….remins me of the good ole days. You are so upbeat in your comments.

Looks as if kitty has an abscess from a fight, scratch or cat bite. Draining an abscess on an animal also takes a lot more than this family can give…needs antibiotics as well as being flushed and drained.

    Excellent post audrey!
I love that the kitty mom was so gentle, this must have been very sore for the cat, and she handled it with great care!
I bet this kitty feels much better now!

Kitty was not a happy camper, but they were doing a nice, gentile, job.

Oh, how I DO like cysts! Thank you for the post, audrey!! MAYBE there will be a part 2 on YT.? I’m sure you’ll keep your eyes pealed. I’d just like to see it completely emptied, and I thought I saw some dark “stuff” (maybe wax?) a little further in the ear that I’d enjoy seeing cleaned out. I’m NOT being critical, just saying…..I’m a hard woman to please sometimes!

He’s pretty relaxed and cool considering he’s laid on his back while she gets the pus out. He’s more comfortable than if he was at the Vet. And the vet is not going to be as gentle. He still needs to go though, some anti biotics should fix him right up. Nice cat. nice owners too

Awww, poor baby. My babies wouldn’t let me near something like that.

Orange Kitties are the Best! They put up with ANYTHING!!! I miss my Peanut kitty :( What a great post, and a fantastic kitty cat; nice owners too (and super lucky owners to have such a wonderful Kitty)

ReaGT, I agree that the orange tabby kitties are the sweetest and most docile. I had a stray one that adopted me (I named him Iggy), and he would put up with just about anything. He was just so happy to have a warm bed (my bed) to sleep in and a steady supply of cat food. Unfortunately, he got out and I never saw him again. I still miss him.

Ginger kitties are the best. Though, I dare say our Little Fur never would have let us do anything like that to him. That is, in less there was a ham and cheese open grill for him to nibble on throughout the whole procedure. He was a total brat. I miss him every day. Just doesn’t get easier.

Since this post, my incredibly agreeable husband gave me the go ahead to start checking the shelters for a big orange kitty to join our little ark of 3 Basenjis and a Haflinger (I guess after the ‘Flinger, a kitty isn’t anything). Wish us luck!

That’s an impressive cyst on kitty’s ear. The critter had to feel better after purging all that gack. Good post Audry. :)

Kitty was not very happy, but at least held still for the procedure, all in all “Mom” did a good job and was very gentle. WTG guys!!

I’m curious why they are popping this at home if they already took the kitty to the vet? Maybe it’s an abscess that refilled? I hope the kitty is on antibiotics!

  • Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

I thought it might have been a ganglion cyst when it started but it did get thick and cloudy in the middle and she got some of the loculations busted loose when it started to get bloody at the end!
    Great find Audrey!!!

    (FIRST POST YAY!!)

Poor baby. I had a kitty who had an abscess in her ear about a year and half ago. It really does stink. To the point of throwing up stink. We found it on a saturday night and we were living in the middle of no where at the time and the vet was closed on sunday. We came up with the idea to make a cone out of cardboard, and took her to the vet on monday. The vet praised us for our quick thinking. We think one of the other cats attacked her. She turned out fine. But passed away this past July. (she was almost 17) So this video hit a soft spot (it was the same ear as well) Hope the kitty is doing well!

There’s nothing quite like that low, gutteral cat growl to make me think twice about ANYTHING. It’s the only time I can clearly understand Cattish…it’s like they’re saying, “Sure, punk. Keep going. But if I can get my claws free of this towel, make no mistake- I could go a long way toward making you wish you were never born.”

Poor kitty. That had to be uncomfortable. My cat is only 5 months old but Dang It (that’s his name) would probably rip me a new one if I tried to squeeze anything on him.

  • Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

Nicely done Audry! That cat was loud but he didn’t scream, say Oh My God nor swear! Poor thing but I’m sure he’ll feel much better without that on his ear. Good squeezes and a really gentle owner (who kept poking her son LOL). If my cat Floyd ever has this, I’m toast… She’ve evil just to trim her nails!

Those people are brave. If we ever did something like that to my cat, he would surely slit our throats while we were sleeping later that night.

    • Thumb up 1 Thumb down 0

That cat was PISSED! That towel made a Christian out of it for a few minutes, but after that I wouldn’t want to be in the same room when you unwrapped it….
How do I know he was Christian?
      He seemed Cat-Lick to me…….

that was a lot of pus from a tiny ear. wow. If i did that to my cats i would end up in the ER getting stitches lol

  • Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    Yes, squirt it, squirt it!

  • Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

That was funny. I just made mirror squirter, and my post was squirt it, squirt it! A coincidence or feline intervention?

Awww poor kitty! And he was being sooo good! :)
