poor lady she’s brewing a big ol pot of chai late in there
What a TERRIBLE infection!!! I hope the treatment works and she is able to recover. I venture a guess that there was more than one syringe used to remove the pus as her stomach was so distended.
She must have been in terrible pain. Hope she is better. Thanks for the post midnightdream69.
MrsTeee
it actually may not be too bad, but ick… – I hope that treated her without reopening!
Psh, please, I’ve got the strongest stomach of anyone I know. *play*
hurp derp *hurls in corner*
I had one of these for a year… a year… It was MRSA that was only treatable to sulfa (allergic), penicillin (allergic), tetracycline (allergic)… they kept I&D’ng it (which would actually work for a spell).
They didn’t want to uses a PICC line with IV vancomycin because PICC lines aren’t that safe for someone with an immunodefficiency even tho I could manage it myself onehanded… I switched surgeons and the new doc found retained sutures from the removal of an appliance that was removed when I had rejected it. The sutures had become colonized with the MRSA and kept reseeding the infection. Once those came out (in the office), no infection. I still had the entire area resected in the OR just in case.
Other than the frustration, it was difficult wearing stretch pants all that time.
Jeezus, thats a horrible story- hope your ok now, ReaGt- also hope your suing the negligent doctor! Ben.
I’m trying to sue – well, find a lawyer to take the case. Even though there was direct causal linkage – the royal blue anchor sutures bundles, they were discovered two years, 5 months after the removal of the appliance. BUT, I had a CAT scan just 22 months after the surgery that was within the two year statute of limitations for malpractice in Delaware. The MRSA was a secondary infection (an entire other story). I’m still fighting with the health insurance company that is refusing to pay because it is malpractice…
I talked to another attorney’s office today (one that advertises, ugh, no word yet) after being turned down due to the SOL by 5 private practices, pulled my records and I’ll sue as a non-atty if I have to. I used to work as a non atty Soc Security advocate, and also as a medical reviewer for an insurance company… I have to do something.
If anyone knows any Delaware atty’s. let me know!
That’s a horrible story, I myself am trying to deal with a malpractice case as well due to complete and utter negligence. I was going to note in the comments about PICC lines, depending on the severity of the infection they will use one regardless. I had MSRA in 3 wounds I also am on 2 monthly injections which reduce my immune defense to practically nothing, I was also on chemo drugs which further reduced it and I had to get a line so that I could infuse myself 3 times a day for over 8 weeks. It wasn’t a fun process at all, but luckily the meds worked and they didn’t have to amputate limbs which for a time they thought they might have to do.

that wide of a bore, on a people??? I’d think if they needed biggerr than an 18 they I&D and leave a drain in, but in a surgeon’s office, often anything goes…
Wow that was a lot of pus, even for a syringe.
Good Luck ReaGT!! It’s not fair that so many people do bad things that even when you have OBVIOUS issues, it’s like you’re NOT THE VICTIM. Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers!!!
wow … that was truly awful looking .. i do hope that some miraculous healing occurred and they are feeling much better now. To the other poster trying to get a malpractice lawyer good luck! I don’t know why it is so hard to sue doctors, but it is. They are like little mini-God’s and they get away quite literally with bloody murder at times and it has to stop! You have my prayers and positive energy your way. I hope it helps! There has got to be some sort of checks and balances put in place in both Canada and the USA and around the globe quite frankly … while doctors are necessary and do an incredible job often thankless, they are not Gods and they should have to answer for their actions the same as anyone else! When we make a mistake at work we have to answer for it, so should they!! sorry just had to put my two cents worth in …thanks to a doctor’s error I no longer work, I will never work again and all because they exercised the shit out of a torn ligament! had they just realized and listened to me when I tried to tell them it wasn’t just whiplash …. yup but no never listen to the patient they don’t know shit. right.
I do hope this patient recovered and I do hope you do as well … good luck and may 2012 be a happy, healthy and prosperous year for you!!!
