The texture of his skin with the soft fat under it seemed to make it hard to get any purchase on the ugly beastie.

it’s hard to pop ‘em when a thin layer of skin (transparent, but tough) has grown over the top. i use (sterilized) sewing needles for this type of thing. poke the center of the blackhead with the sharp end, right into the core (not so deep u break the skin), do my squeezin’, then take the eye end to scrape out the hole. the hole in the eye of the needle helps with scraping out and “grabbing” leftover material so it can be pulled out.
