“This is my brother he had MRSA in his right elbow, last year. He was in the
hospital for 2 weeks and remembers none of it. He almost lost his arm!!! but
luckilly didn’t!!! He had a wound vac. and ended up having a skin graph done,
with skin taken from his inner thigh. It is still not comptley closed up and it
happend over a year ago! It was a very painful and slow process but we are just thankful he still has his arm. Any more questions let me know. Thankyou!!!”
LOL@Skin Graph
I am happy he is recovering and has his arm. That wound looks really nasty.
MRSA is a zit. Glad he pulled through. It must have been very difficult to wait it out during treatment.
Is he still being monitored at this point?
Owww that looks so painful! Glad he better!
About 5 years ago I had my knee scoped. A week later I got MRSA in my knee. I spent 5 days in the hospital and then wore a pump which pumped oxicillin into my system for 28 days. The night I went to the hospital I was told if I had waited til morning I would have lost my leg at a minimum. I feel for him!!
i’ve had two bouts with mrsa… but nothing like this poor fellow. thanks for sharing the story and i hope your brother continues to do well. one thing about wounds and recovery… it’s a slow process that truly tests one’s patience.
(also — the yellow isolation gowns leave much to be desired. add bright blue gloves and it feels like Smurf Hell…)
I hope he heals well
Holy crap! Is that MRSA or that skin eating bacteria? Or are they the same?
Horrible truth is, if a body didn’t have M.R.S.A. when admitted to hosp. theres a good chance it will when it leaves. Hosps. and L.T.C. facilities are ate up with it. I’ve had active x2 and constantly exposed d/to nature of the job. Skin grafts are a process, young healthy people usually tolerate well. Wound looks clean, with good blood flow. I’ll bet he’ll do wonderfully. What in the world happened to him?
Poor fella! Yeah, it looks like a flesh eating bacteria. I hope it heals up well and perhaps he can post it.
dang this looks bad… hope it turned out well for him.
That is some nasty stuff and no fun to go through. I hope he is healing well. Great photos.
This makes me cringe! The thought of your innards being open to the outside is AAA!!!
How did he lose that much skin!?
Thankyou to all who enjoyed the pictures. I will try and get some more up here of what it now looks like. His immune system is very week so he gets sick alot eaiser, but we are just thankful to still have him and his arm! about 3yrs. ago he served the ARMY in Iraq for 19 months. and got TB so we think in that amount of time it just ended up going to his elbow. They left the wound open so it would heal from the inside out. They had to pack it twice a day which was very painful for even a strong grown man! It seriously looks like a scene from one of the SAw movies!!! But thankyou too everyone!!!
ew. just ew.
ARG. That is not our site material though.
How is it not “sight material”?????
Okay, I think that the skin and a layer of fat is missing. So what are we looking at? I think I know basic anatomy enough to know the answer but I may be in shock – putting the phrase, “Can’t believe my eyes,” to good use. So seriously. Could someone walk me through what we’re looking at in the portion of arm with no skin?
isnt it down to muscle bone and tissue if 3 layers of skin and body fat are gone?
WOW! Sending thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery!
