Oh my…. And 99% of the time nothing grosses me out…
But… this did!
Poor lil guy/gal! Looks like it maybe started as a blocked mammary gland. At least it was easy to drain, I’ve had rabbits with abscesses and their pus is very thick and chunky.
I bet that was painful walking around with that thing underneath it. The rinsing is what grossed me out.
Btw, does every vet office/hospital have a loud annoying bird in it?
Poor little guy. I’m glad he’s okay though.
I was thinking how many chincillas would make a coat, I hear they are very expensive, from Russia, farmed.
I’m glad to see the little guy was knocked out, I hate to see animals suffer.
Bird in the back ground had plenty to say…didn’t it?
well what a precious thing to pet.. and funny looking feet to boot (pun intended!)
you’re right, what strange little legs. i wish there were no pretense to “sterile technique” — we see surgeon rummaging around for supplies after gloving up, etc. with abscesses, “clean” will do. give up the fake sterile act! (pet peeve)
I agree with ZitFreak that it’s in a mammary gland area, after seeing the little spigot on it in the beginning. Exotic vets are personal heroes of mine, and yes, jollypopper, most exotic critter clinics DO have a loud, squawking parrot, it seems. This chinchilla is so funny (those ears!) and his/her tiny feet on that round body remind me of cartoon little old ladies with round shapes balanced atop teeny little feet. At least there are four in this case–spread the load? We watched some in the pet store once, and they enthusiastically “bathe” and splash in fine, sawdusty stuff. No need to get their fur wet. Wee little cuties!
i want one of those chinchillas i love exotic animals if i could ever pick an animal in the zoo to bring home it be a white tiger ahh there so pretty and the vets did an excellent job great find mistoff smooches hugs and audie bear loves
