I usually favor thorough expression to evacuating with saline, because it just seems to me that e wash-out leaves a “juicy” wound which could very well re-infect. But in this case, with the very thick and bloody matter, could be a hunk of nastiness left. I think here I would opt for a strong wash-out at the end.
