LeTonya, from what I understand, It happens rather quickly. This was most likely caused by a fight with another dog or possibly some other extreme ear trauma. When the internal capillaries of the ear are ruptured, they have no way to drain, and can fill the ear cavity in a matter of hours. People have the same issue when struck in the ear, and I believe it is the cause of "cauliflower ear" in boxers.

My doggy friend, Miles, was next to me when I watched this one. Okay, he's pretty much always next to me. Anyway, I had to give him a special little head scratch, after watching this video. Something about seeing doggies who hurt, always makes me want to love on my doggy, just a little bit more than usual .

Very nice video. I wonder how the dog is doing now. I know there is a picture in there of it 3 weeks post op, but I wonder if there have been any later complications.

Seems like a very thorough and caring vet. :)

Not usually one for the animal videos. It's always harder for me to see them in pain because they don't understand what's going on. You can't explain you're helping and tell them everything will be okay. Having the animal under anesthesia helps a great deal for me because they're not suffering.

It seemed to me that incision didn't need to be that long but then I saw the vet put his finger in the wound followed by the gauze to get the fibrin completely removed. I guess it was a scary beginning that reconciled itself by the end.
