and to think these are the conditions that the cows live in and then go to slaughter and we get our beef from this. makes me happier and happier that i’m getting away from red meat.

Wow, I feel sorry for this poor fellow.
This is why I don’t buy meat at the grocery store. It’s worth it to go outside the city to a rural meat market who buy only healthy local animals and slaughter them onsight.
I totally respect not eating meat though.
this is why i hate watching the animal videos. the poor thing must have been suffering horribly and i wonder for how long?
i wouldn’t be surprised at all if it was a situation that occurred in one of those massive feedlots, where the poor creatures are barely able to move around. probably was gored by another cow in such crowded and inhumane conditions.
when i shop for meat, i only buy free-range, organic, drug-free beef, chicken, pork. if i am going to eat meat, i want it to come from healthy animals, that have not had to endure such appalling conditions, like those in the industrial farm feedlots etc.
it is quite expensive, but at least i am not contributing to the horrific treatment of these animals.
the meat itself is healthier, as it is not saturated with anti-biotics, growth hormones, or other animals rendered into the feed. when their feed is supplemented with animal proteins, that’s how you end up with issues like anthrax/scrapies, originally found in sheep, that then mutated into bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad-cow disease) and finally into creutzfeldt-jakob disease, the human variant.
well, i think i am gonna go fire up the bbq now and have me some nice HEALTHY red meat for lunch.
