Antiseptics are common in the US but in some places even near me there are locations that are wild and untouched and sometimes people go and hike for miles, up to the Blue Ridge mountains… anyway, the point is, away from city life, it is far less likely you’re going to have antiseptics built in to your soap, your washer fluid etc.
The clotted blood is poisoned blood; it shows that sepsis has set in and if it isn’t removed, it could create a much bigger problem than just a leg. Before the discovery of penicillan, a leg like that might have been amputated. They used whiskey and other grand antiseptics like that, but they couldn’t battle the infection that came with it.
Those of you who are thinking about eating — I got ta say — ewww.
