I always find it extra sad and disturbing when children and animals are suffering in any way and we only see that part. It was very refreshing that they waited to show the cute little Parrot looking perfectly healthy. Yay!

    • I’m with ya on that one. Can’t handle animals being hurt. I was glad they showed the parrot recovering and looking much better.

  • I enjoy the part where they show the bird’s head after it has been shoved through a Big Gulp straw and lid.

It’s amazing how SMALL animals are under their fur and/or feathers! For his head to go through that tiny opening of the collar is astounding! Glad he was anesthetized while they dug that gunk out! It looks dry and hard, doesn’t it? Ick. It IS nice when they show the return to health.

  • I rescued a domestic duck from a local park because she was flightless, and had a severely abscessed leg and foot. I managed to remove some of the abscess, and it came out very calcified, like a cuttle bone that you might give a parrot. I was able to find her a home with a friend of mine who had an open flock of disabled ducks. We only had her for a month or so, but people give you really funny looks when you take your duck for a walk!

To “Scottlass”, I think that what you did for the duck was a pure and unselfish random act of kindness. If there were more people like you in the world, we would truly be in a better place. I know that sounds goofy, but it’s true.

  • this was the *perfect* video to watch last for this visit to PTZ. that is one FREAKY bird at the 1:50 mark… sadly, i can relate to that scary bug-eyed clown head a little too much!

still, it is cool how this weird little parrot is handled with such expertise and affection.

hmmm, maybe i have time for pete and his pustulant pimple… there’s always room for pete!

  • I just love animal pus and especially animals chunks. Glad to see the bird is doing better. Thank you for the great post. We need more animal videos. Wish I was still a Vet Tech. because I have seen some really gross stuff. Wish I would have recorded all of it. Now I own my own Dog Grooming Shop and really miss all the pus and maggots and blood, etc.

  • Excellent camera work….I still have trouble spotting exactly where Polly’s eye is under all that muck. The scoopy technique was fascinationg as so much goop came out.
