ugh that was plain nasty. I saw a baby deer this weekend. It had a huge baseball size lump on its leg. I wonder what magical fluid was in there. Animals get some nasty infections!

They didn’t let it get big for their own amusement, they had to let it come to a head before they could lance it. (By the way, the abcess was located by the cow’s FRONT leg. Not by her udder.)

WOW — that was disgusting — even for this crowd. I’m so glad that the cow didn’t seem to be in pain. It probabally felt good after it was all over. -And to PusLuvr1967 — I hope you were kidding.

Jeez! I’m not sure even I could stand that nasty job. Think how much better that must have felt to the cow to have all that pressure relieved. Also enjoyed the cow urinating, just to add to the mess on the floor…..

When I was nursing one of my children I got mastitis, an infection in the milk ducts. The milk was pussy and bloody and very gross. My OBGYN told me to keep nursing my daughter on that pus laden milk that it wouldn’t hurt her. He said that dairy farmers are allowed to sell milk from cows who have the very same infection as I did…needless to say I went out and bought some formula.

oh wow…this was an awesome video. and i’m sure they weren’t purposely waiting for the abscess to get gigantic, rosy. i’m sick of people who assume that because an animal has an abscess that the owner’s must be extremely cruel and support/own puppy mills. so please if you’re going to comment please don’t assume the worst. geesh

I live next to a horse ranch, and apparently, these types of abcesses are quite common in farm animals. Some are caused by fly bites, in connection with rolling around in septic mud. I had the privilege of watching our neighbor lance an abcess on one of his horses, and the stench was absolutely wretched. He wasn’t a complete turnip, and wore surgical gloves to drain the abcess I watched, sticking his finger right into the cut. It made my day

the person who cut open this thing is gross i would have worn gloves. That video was nuts though i can only imagine the size of the whole that thing made. i feel bad for the cow though.
